W2k3 Server -> NT 4.0
Hope you guys can give me some details for the following issue I bumped into. Server – W2k3 Client – NT 4.0 Workstation (yes, this is way too old yet it lives forever) Now, I have two w2k3 box where it remotely try to connect via UNC \\NT4Wks\share One work, while another one getting ‘network path not found/etc’ error. Zero firewall, all insides one specific network zone, verified network VCAL/etc. I have compare the related keys setting like Lsa, LanManServer, Netlogon, both w2k3 settings are the same. I should have mentioned that the w2k3 server are in domain, while the NT 4 is standalone. Both servers can ping the NT4 host..... but only one can remotely access NT4 fileshare. It must be related to some security setting on the w2k3 box that is not working, but still can’t figure it out. Thank you.Cheers, Bernard Cheah

You might also try the ip address inside of UNC path. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]

I think I remember you from iis.ftp groups. I just fired up my old NT4 server and pointed it to my 2008R2 DC for DNS and WINS and I connect up no problem by name or address from Win7. Like yours everything is in domain but NT4 is in its own domain. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]
